Kalimantan Tengah - Orang Utan Tour Package 4 Days 3 Nights
DAY 1: AIRPORT – KUMAI – BOAT/LODGE (L & D)
Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport. Our local staff will pick you up and take you to Kumai to board the boat. Thus, the boat is a traditional Klotok wooden boat with a roof that forms the upper deck where you can view the rainforest. The guide’s team includes the boatman, a cook, and an expert guide. Afterward, we will explore the quiet river by the klotok in the afternoon while observing the Proboscis monkeys along the riverside. Dinner and overnight on the boat. Simple mattresses, pillows, fine meals, mineral water, mosquito net, and simple toilet available on the boat besides the familiar. In addition, helpful guides and boatmen spend the night at the lodge/homestay near the river of Kalimantan Tengah.
DAY 2: CAMP LEAKEY – BOAT/LODGE (B, L & D)
After breakfast, board the klotok to travel up river for about 2,5 hours boating and then up a side creek to Camp Leakey, where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest and also known as the research center for Orangutan. They are trekking through tropical rainforests, searching for wildlife, wild orangutans, birds, and other primates and tropical jungle plants. Back to the boat for lunch, witness feeding time at 2:00 p.m. for old rehabilitation orangutan given additional foods, and overnight on the boat or at Rimba Ecolodge.
DAY 3 : PONDOK TANGGUI – PESALAT – TANJUNG HARAPAN – BOAT/LODGE (B, L & D)
After breakfast, board the klotok to travel up the river to Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation center for the ex-captive orangutans; see feeding time at 09.00 am. Hike through the forest of Pondok Tanggui, searching for wildlife, including wild orangutans, birds, and others. Next, we continue the trip to the Pesalat reforestation camp to see this reforestation project. Afternoon visits to Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation Center to witness feeding time for rehabilitated orangutans at 15:00. We could call a village near the park in the free afternoon program and enjoy canoeing around the river. Overnight on the boat or at Rimba Lodge. End our Kalimantan Tengah package.
DAY 4: BOAT/LODGE – KUMAI – AIRPORT (B, L & D)
After breakfast, the boat goes down to Kumai and then transfers you to the airport to catch your next destination; the tour ends.
